Diverse medewerkers en leden uit de achterban van EIS Kenniscentrum Insecten zijn zich naar aanleiding van enige recente expedities naar de Nederlandse Antillen en de lancering van het Nederlands Caribisch Soortenregister gaan bezig houden met de non-mariene ongewervelden van het Caraïbische deel van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden.

John Smit heeft zich verdiept in de libellen (Odonata), diverse families uit de ordes vliegen en muggen (Diptera) en vliesvleugeligen (Hymenoptera) en de vleermuisparasieten. Jeremy Miller bewerkte de spinnen (Araneae) die tijdens de Naturalis-expeditie van 2015 naar St. Eustatius werden verzameld. Peter Boer determineerde de mieren die tussen 1930 en 1970 verzameld werden op de bovenwindse en benedenwindse eilanden door MacGillavry, Wagenaar Hummelinck en Cobben en deed onderzoek naar de mierenfauna van Saba, Aruba en St. Eustatius.

Tello Neckheim, Sylvia van Leeuwen en Susan Hewitt, en Ton de Winter houden zich bezig met de weekdieren (Mollusca) van de eilanden. Harry Smit bewerkte samen met Sergey Ermilov de mosmijten (Oribatida) die in de Caraïben werden verzameld door Wagenaar Hummelinck en Berend Aukema ontfermt zich over de wantsen (Heteroptera). Martin Soesbergen en Jos Sinkeldam namen de kieuwpootkreeften (Branchiopoda) onder handen en diverse Naturalis-medewerkers onderzochten de muggenfauna van de noordelijke eilanden. Ondergetekende heeft een catalogus samengesteld van de kevers (Coleoptera) van de Nederlandse Antillen en reviseert zowel historisch als recent verzameld materiaal uit de regio.

Het raakvlak binnen deze werkgroep beslaat niet een bepaalde groep maar de regio. De leden van de werkgroep wisselen literatuur en andere wetenswaardigheden uit, informeren andere geïnteresseerden en determineren Antilliaans onderzoeksmateriaal. Lezers die vragen hebben of op de hoogte willen blijven van de ongewervelde ontwikkelingen op de Nederlandse Antillen kunnen contact opnemen met werkgroepcoördinator.
